About Me

I grew up in Leatherhead, Surrey. I attended Therfield Secondary School, where I was Head Girl, and then went to Nottingham University where I studied History and American Studies. I took a year out from my studies at Nottingham to do the elected sabbatical role of Education Officer on the Students' Union Executive.

After University, I lived in Leatherhead for another two years whilst I studied at the College of Law in Guildford. I am now a solicitor and work for a London law firm representing victims of exposure to asbestos.

I joined the Lib Dems when I was 17, and was elected a member of Mole Valley Lib Dems’ Executive Committee in 2005. I was the candidate for Fetcham West in the following District Council elections.

During the summer of 2006 I moved to Clapham, and so reluctantly resigned from my position on Mole Valley Lib Dems' Executive. In the autumn I joined Battersea and Tooting Lib Dems’ Executive Committee, and later became its Social and Fundraising Officer, and editor of its newsletter.

When the vacancy for Parliamentary Candidate for Mole Valley came up, I immediately decided to run for it, and in December 2007 I won the internal election.

Aside from politics, I have many interests such as travel, psychology, sociology, theatre, films and art. I love history, particularly that of the 19th and 20th centuries, and I love the countryside. Music and food are also passions of mine. My favourite music genres are indie and uplifting house, but I also like some classical, nu-metal, hip-hop and pop.

My partner Nick and I live in Hampstead.
